Elterngeld: Basic Elterngeld & ElterngeldPlus
Parental allowance supports parents financially after the birth of a child. It replaces the lost income and amounts to 65-67% of the previous net income (min. 300 euros, max. 1,800 euros per månad).
Basic Elterngeld
- 65-67% of previous net income
- Paid for up to 12 months (14 months with partner months)
ElterngeldPlus
ElterngeldPlus is half the amount of basic parental allowance but is paid for twice as long (up to 24 months). Ideal if you want to return to part-time work during parental leave.
Special Rules for Low Inkomst
För income below 1,240 euros net per månad, the replacement rate increases gradually up to 100%. Den minimum amount is always 300 euros (basic) or 150 euros (ElterngeldPlus) per månad.
