In Germany, the statutory retirement age is being gradually raised from 65 to 67 years for those born in 1964 or later. A phased schedule applies for those born between 1947 and 1963.
Early retirement options
- Full pension at 63 after 45 years of contributions (Rente für besonders langjährig Versicherte).
- Early retirement with deduction: up to 4 years early with a permanent deduction of 0.3% per month (max. 14.4%).
Active pension (Aktivrente) 2026
From 2026, employees who continue working beyond retirement age benefit from the Aktivrente: up to 2,000 €/month with tax advantages.
